More life in life through Craft : Culture C@nnect Mantra

Craft is something in between art and life … something which is abstract, creative and yet concrete. Immersing oneself in creating craft forms adds an element of fun and fantasy in life.

Traditional craft skills have been the prerogative of artisans, which typically pass from one generation to another. Working with communities specialized in craft forms is one way to reclaim and revive crafts. We feel that there is more we can do to make craft more mainstream. Introduce Craft in a new avatar which our gaming-tweeting- facebooking generation of today can enjoy.
Co-Creation through workshops
Workshops are a great medium and we believe that is an excellent tool to contextualize craft – develop skills that enable each of us to create practical solutions, work individually and in teams, develop visual awareness, appreciate the relationship of craft and the environment. Above all, give all of us a starting point for leisure pursuits that we might engage in for the rest of our lives.

We will be organizing a series of workshops on different craft forms – Macramé, Flower making, Paper Mache, Knitting, Painting techniques, pottery, embroidery , weaving and more.

Keep logging on our blog to know the schedule of upcoming workshops.

Macrame Creations

Learning macramé at Culture C@nnect is all about understanding basic knots and creating contemporary items and accessories.
In addition to taking home your unique creations, the Macrame workshops will get your creative juices flowing improving your concentration in a fun-filled environment.

Macramé is believed to have originated with 13th-century Arab weavers. The word macramé is derived from the Arabic migramah, believed to mean "striped towel", "ornamental fringe" or "embroidered veil." These artisans knotted the excess thread and yarn along the edges of hand-loomed fabrics into decorative fringes on bath towels, shawls, and veils. Macramé or macrame is a form of textile making using knotting rather than weaving or knitting.
